Rotarians are often ShelterBox’s first point of local contact during emergencies
To: 2012-13 District Governors

Rotary District 2482
Rotary District 2482
Dear Governor Atanasov:
Since ShelterBox
’s creation in 2000, Rotary and Rotaract clubs have been working with the organization to assist communities immediately following a disaster. Rotarians are often ShelterBox’s first point of local contact during emergencies. From helping assess a disaster’s impact, to housing response team volunteers, to helping coordinate relief logistics, Rotarians provide vital assistance to ShelterBox Response Teams (SRTs).
District 2482 can encourage clubs to work more closely with ShelterBox:
- Invite a ShelterBox representative to present on collaboration opportunities at a district conference.
- Encourage clubs to invite a ShelterBox representative to present at a club meeting.
- Remind your clubs about disaster relief opportunities during emergencies by featuring ShelterBox on your district website.
- Establish a relationship with a ShelterBox affiliate to help evaluate and mobilize local relief efforts in the case of a disaster.
-
Share the message recently sent to Rotary clubs with assistant governors
